I didn't know that pluging in the wrong power cord would cause a problem. After reading this I checked both my externals and sure enough I have 2 power cords with the same plug but rated for differnt voltage. If I would not of read this I know somewhere in the future I would of pluged the wrong cord into the wrong external. Thanks for saving my butt. This was very helpful. The fact that it's clicking after you dropped it means it's a hardware issue. You're going to have to send it to a qualified data recovery company for some clean room work. Most likely it will need new read heads. Whatever you do....DON'T TURN YOUR DRIVE ON! Clicking drives can very well be damaging your data to the point of no return.
